CVB and Covid-19

Dear CVB community, members and supporters,

As the COVID-19 pandemic has reached Bonaire we have had to make some difficult decisions early on in the process of founding a new association, postponing the first general meet and greet for members and supporters, as well as limiting the amount of board members for practical reasons amongst health concerns, both have been disappointing to say the least. However, though the task at hand may not be easy, the injustice set forth by the condemnation of cannabis to illegality and taboo must end. We have been looking at ways to substitute physical meetings with virtual meetings online, as we wait until having large congregations of people is again deemed responsible. At the same time, we face new challenges regarding the precarious financial situation of the yet to be association, as we are in the process of having it notarized, and all the permits applied for, before actually opening a bank account and accepting donations or membership fees. In the meantime, we are planning the launch of a website, and we have a whole team working in their free time to get our social media accounts and communication on point. All this in preparation to one day, hopefully sooner than later, have a stand-alone, self-sufficient organization fighting for cannabis reform laws on Bonaire to benefit everyone, being the community as a whole. Once the start-up phase is done, we will be able to accept members who can in turn elect board members to run the association and drive it further as the members see fit, making this a truly democratic vehicle towards change.
